These days we are in such a hurry to get things done and we never have time to just sit and slow down. Because of our hurried nature, we often have no time to prepare food that is healthy, as it takes time and therefore, we opt for the faster and often unhealthier fast food.

Here are some very simple recipes that can be made in under 10 minutes and are a healthier option then what you would go for in your haste.

Poached Eggs and Avo Toast

These days, there is nothing simpler and more delicious than avocado on toast. This recipe makes the meal so much more filling. Swap your bread for something a bit richer like Rye, Brown or seeded and toast it. Add a fried egg, some herbs, cottage cheese, and maybe some bacon for a filling and delicious.

Omelet in a Mug

Omelet in a Mug is a simple meal to make that is both Fun to make and filling at the same time. Toss all your breakfast ingredients into the mug, with your choice of breakfast meat or excluding it if you are vegetarian. Eggs, cheese, and salsa are added and zap it for a minute, stir it and then cook it for another 45 seconds or until cooked. After cooking, add some cheese to the warm food and enjoy.

Chicken Burrito

Those who have left over chicken can rejoice as they can reuse the chicken in a delicious and filling lunch item. Mix the chicken up with avocado and chess, stuff it onto a tortilla, wrap it up and cook it. You can add whatever you want from onions, peppers and some greens. Best part of the Chicken Burrito is that you can freeze it and have it for later. The Burrito is a very quick, easy and simple thing to made  and can save you so much time if you are in a rush.

Tomato Stuffed Avo

The humble avocado makes another appearance for great breakfast options. The Stuffed Salad Avocado requires you to remove the pit of the avo, and add a delicious combination of chopped tomato, onion, and herbs and stuff it into the avocado. This is a very filling and delicious breakfast that takes little effort to prepare and can easily be taken to work and enjoyed there.  Many people also add some Feta Cheese to the tomato mixture for some extra protein.

BBQ Chicken Pita Pizza

One would not think of BBQ Chicken Pizza as a quick and healthy option, but this pizza dish can be made in under 10 minutes. The base of the pizza is actually whole wheat pita bread. Add your own BBQ sauce, mozzarella, precooked chicken, red onions and your choice of herbs, if any. Stick it into the microwave until the cheese is perfectly melted and then you can enjoy your own delicious BBQ pizza… Dig in!

Snakes have gotten a somewhat bad reputation for being all dangerous, deadly and downright terrifying. Unfortunately, this causes many people to develop a fear for these reptiles and antagonizing any snake they come across. There are however, many snakes that are quite harmless and are non-venomous and do not provide any threat to anyone when bitten. Many snakes are actually quite passive and avoid any conflict with people, only resulting to biting when there is no other option.

Here are however some snakes that are harmless and snakes whose bites do not cause any necessary medical attention.

Brown House Snake

Surely the most common snake that can be found in urban areas. The brown house snake is very popular with pet owners who are thinking of taking on a snake. They are primarily a light brown red colour with faint dark brown markings along its body. When bitten by a House snake, you will only feel the pain of the bite and that’s about it. Those who are more susceptible to allergies may feel a slight reaction but nothing more.

Olive Grass Snake

The Olive Grass Snake is a solitary snake that is mildly venomous but do not require any medical attention. The Olive Grass Snake is a dark brown snake that has two pale yellow lines stretching from its head to its tail. They have a darker diamond pattern under the yellow stripes with a white underside. These are usually the snakes that are seen killed on roads as they frequently cross to get to the other side.

Karoo Sand Snake

The Karoo Sand Snake is a light brown, sandy coloured snake with darker brown top and much paler sides. These snakes are also venomous but their bites do not require any medical attention if the case arises. The Karoo Sand Snake is a very active snake that is active during the hottest parts of the day, chasing down its prey. These snakes are somewhat aggressive and will not hesitate to bite when

Rhombic Egg Eater

The Rhombic Egg Eater is a roughly scaled snake that has a similar appearance to a Puff adder with a few noticeable differences. The Rhombic Egg Eater is a dusty brown snake with dark diamond shaped patterns and stripes along its back. It has grey brown underside and a round, stumpy head. This snake is non venomous  and mainly avoids interacting with people. They are relatively active during birding season and can go months without feeding.

Mole Snake

The Mole Snake is a rather beautiful snake that has a caramel colour that has brown and white bars along its back. Its underside is a pale caramel colour and has brown red eyes as an adult and goes completely brown when an adult. These snakes are non-venomous as they are constrictors that will not hesitate to bite when handles.

There is a lot of nature that many do no know and there are plenty of amazing locations in the Lowveld that can help people learn some interesting facts about nature and the amazing animals that call the lowveld and surrounds home.

Jane Goodall Chimp Eden

The Jane Goodall Chimp Eden Sanctuary is a large protective location found just outside of Nelspruit, between the town and Barberton. The goal of the Chimp Sanctuary is to rehabilitate, raise and educate people on the life of chimpanzees. Many of the chimps that can be found in the sanctuary are rescues and victims of deforestation, fires, black market trade and poaching. Visitors here can interact with the chimps, learn all about their history and about protecting these amazing animals.

Sudwala Caves

The Sudwala Caves are the oldest known caves in the world. The Caves can be found on your way to Sabie. This stunning collection of caves lies comfortably in the mountain up high, with a decent hike to the entrance. Visitors are able to take part in amazing tours into the caves, led by guides that know the layout of the cave. The Caves are rather educational as visitors learn very interesting facts about the caves, like the history and significance, the crystal and dolomite formations as well as the utter beauty of the Amphitheatre.

Elephant Whispers

Elephant Whispers is a safe haven with the goal of conserving and protecting the elephants of the lowveld. It is a very immersive experience as visitors are able to interact with these gentle giants. Visitors are led on an educational tour, providing the story of the elephants, their conservation plans and stories of poaching in general.

Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre

The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre is a protective sanctuary for a variety of endangered and rare species. The variety of endangered and vulnerable species that call the centre home are conserved  and sustained here. This centre thrives on tourism and educate the guests on conservation and amazing facts about these amazing and rare animals. Visitors will see animals that they will not see anywhere else in the wild, or will have a decreased chance.

Moholoholo Animal Rehabilitation Centre

The Moholoholo Wildlife Reservation Centre has a very similar goal as the Hoedspruit Reservation Centre. Home to a large variety of endangered and vulnerable animals, the Moholoholo Reservation Centre aims to educate tourists on the importance of conservation as well as some fascinating information about each of the animals living there including some of their back stories and where they come from. Visitors will be led on an educational tour to many of the enclosures along the tour.

It is important to have some decent knowledge about nature, our surroundings and the importance of conservation to protect our animals and natural resources.
